Podruzka Selects Oracle to Optimize Planning and Forecasting Capabilities

 Russian perfume and cosmetics retailer, Podruzka has implemented Oracle technology to better manage its inventory operations in stores and at warehouse level, to improve forecasting capabilities and drive revenue.

Podruzka, which owns 150 stores operating across Moscow, Moscow region and St. Petersburg, selected Oracle Retail Demand Forecasting solution, built on the Oracle Retail Predictive Application Server to create a flexible and scalable platform for their planning needs. The solution, which was configured and optimized by Veltio, a Gold-level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork, helps to ensure that all Podruzka locations are focused on satisfying consumer demand. Through this investment, the retailer can now achieve forecasting accuracy of nearly 95 percent on non-promotional items and 75 percent on promotional items - a level that was not possible before the implementation of the Oracle solutions.

In the warehouse, Podruzka has seen some equally strong results. It has reduced out of stocks by an estimated 18 percent and decreased overstocking from 4 months of excess inventory to no more than 3 weeks of stock.

“To achieve our goals for the business, we have to ensure that we are investing in the right technology partners that will drive greater optimization of our operations by increasing planning efficiency and order accuracy,” said Dmitry Tamurka, chief executive officer and co-founder, Podruzka.

By investing in the Oracle solutions, Podruzka is also better able to make informed decisions based on operating factors including sales history, price and assortment changes, promotions, website launches, new stores, and product introductions. The automated forecasting functionality within the new platform highlights problems and opportunities to provide the company a more accurate view of demand.

Oracle was selected over existing market solutions due to its known expertise and the advanced functionality that Oracle Retail Predictive Application Server provides, which aligned with Podruzka’s business objectives. Veltio company was selected because of their business expertise not only technical knowledge.

The deployment also takes advantage of integration with Veltio APX Replenishment, which provides enhanced replenishment calculation functionality.
